Raymond L. Higgins is a San Diego entrepreneur, philanthropist and sailor. He has been the Chief Executive Officer of Higgins Capital Management, Inc. since its founding in 1995.
Ray is a San Diego native and was born in Balboa Naval Hospital. He is the son of Hal Higgins, a career Naval Officer and his wife Josephine, a Registered Nurse. The Higgins’ raised their children in the Methodist Church. Honor, integrity, loyalty and helping others were cherished family values.
Ray attended the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis where he was a member of the Ocean Racing Team. He served as a Surface Warfare Officer and was decorated for the rescue of Vietmanese Boat People. He completed his naval service with work on the Tomahawk Missile.
Ray returned to San Diego in 1983 and began his career in finance at Merrill Lynch in downtown San Diego. In 1987 he married his business partner Debbie. Debbie and Ray Higgins were recruited by Lehman Brothers in 1992 and moved to La Jolla. They founded Higgins Capital in 1995.
The Higgins have a daughter, Kimberly Rae Higgins. They are members of the San Diego Yacht Club and the First United Methodist Church of San Diego.
